This extra base is for the Britax Chaperone carseat. The carseat itself does come with a base; this one is extra so that you can have a base in two cars and simply click the carseat in and out rather than un-installing and re-installing when switching cars.

The seat base is sturdy and well-made and holds the carseat in the perfect position for infants without going through the trouble of correctly re-installing each time.

The britax system is great and we researched high and low for ultimate safety. We have a Mazda CX-7 so not an SUV, but not a compact car. The base is very, very large. So large that we needed to put it in the middle seat because otherwise we would have had to move the driver/passenger seat up too far to be safe. This was okay for us as that is now reported as the safest place for a child due to side impact collisions. It does pose a little bit of an inconvenience getting baby in and out. It wasn't that big of a deal for me, but it might be for some.

Overall, this is a great base and car seat and will keep our baby safe. A little bit of an inconvenience due to size is well worth the benefits it provides.

To whom it may concern.

I have purchased the Britax Chaperone Infant seat, Base and the B-Agile stroller. I love them all. They go from one to another with ease. The seat is a little heavy, but the safety is worth the extra weight. The only problem I have had is removing seat from base. You need to pull up on the lever located on the back of the seat, and if you are 6'1"+ like myself your seat is against the back of the carseat, making it impossible to remove, so you have to move your seat up to place the seat in or to get out. We installed the base in a new 2012 Ford Explorer, and the only place you could install the seat (with the quick clips) was in the third row seating, the problem is that you have to put down the seat in the second row to accommodate the carseat, eliminating an entire seat in the car.

Other than that, great system.
