Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program With our two older children, we used the Graco booster seats with the back on them. While the price on them was right, the fabric was a bit scratchy and the backs came off the seat real easily when moving it around from vehicle to vehicle.
We obtained The First Years Compass Pathway B570 booster seat and plopped it in the van for our 3rd child.
When I first opened the box, I was a bit confused at all the adjustment points on the seat and how they worked. A quick glance in the manual and I was ready to place it in the minivan.
It goes in like any booster seat. However, this model has the LATCH connectors as well which prevents the seat from flying around in the event of a car accident and there is no child in the seat.
The booster seat has two snack cups that fit into the cup holders on each side of the seat. The cups come out with a half turn. Most toddler and covered cups fit into the snack cups, which is quite nice as the snack cups add height and help prevent cups from flying everywhere during a hard turn or a sudden stop.
Another nice feature is that the arm rests fold up. This is probably a trivial feature for the child, but it sure can help if you are lifting a child into the seat from an awkward angle.
In my opinion, the pros for the seat are: the latch system to secure the seat when not in use, the seat is nicely padded compared to the cheaper Graco boosters, the fabric is soft, the snack cups help keep drinks from flying everywhere, the seat is designed so that fabric covers the entire back of the seat no matter how high the back is adjusted, and with a quick adjustment, the seat fit from my youngest to oldest child really well.
There are some cons to the seat. If the child falls asleep, the design of the head rest does not seem to support the child's head well at all (my child's head keeps falling forward, something that did not happen with the Graco seats) and the seatbelt guides really seem to cling to the seatbelt when you are trying to buckle the child, making fastening the seatbelt kind of difficult.
Overall, I thought this was a very nice booster seat. Fortunately, I have not had to put any car or booster seat through the ultimate test of a car accident, so I can not comment on how it performs when it matters most. While there are some excellent features, the fact that a child's head is not supported well when sleeping and it is difficult to buckle compared to the Graco Booster seats are a real turn off for me.
The kids do like the seat, so it has their seal of approval. Personally, while I think it is an excellent seat, I am not sure the value for the money spent is all that great.
Update #1: As anyone with kids knows, it is inevitable that a child will make a mess in their seat of some sort. Well, after the contents of my daughter's cup leaked all over this booster, I learned two valuable things.
First, I had to dismantle the fabric/padding on the seat and I put it in a front load washing machine on the delicate cycle for the shortest duration possible. I pulled the pieces out of the washer and hung them to dry for a few days. When I reassembled the seat, I found that all the padding compressed to the front of the lower seating section. Maybe I washed it wrong (I can honestly say I didn't pull out the manual to read the directions on how to launder the seat), but I was quite disappointed in this. I guess the next step is to rewash and put it in the dryer with tennis balls.
Second, the seat has drain holes in the bottom. If you spill something on the booster seat, it is going to leak all over your car seat. Other seats I have had (either by accident or by design) had little areas that captured liquid. Not a big deal, but I was a bit shocked to see a puddle on my car upholstery.

We have 3 of these seats in our car...actually, two of them are older versions and one is the 570. We have had them for years and all of our 4 children have used them. Yeah, now we are down to 3 car seats!I had to write today as we were in a collision yesterday. The seats preformed beautifully in the worst situation -a wreck. The 570 has a different shoulder latch system than the older versions & at first I didn't like them as they are a bit difficult to get used to. However, after yesterday, I'm so thankful that the shoulder straps in all 3 car seats work as designed.
We purchased all 4 compass boosters from Amazon too -the best prices at the time. I also have the carrying case and have traveled with it numerous times!
Thanks COMPASS!

I love this booster. My son loves this booster. His grandparents love this booster.I can't say enough about it.
It folds up nicely when I need to move it or when I need space in the back seat and my son is not with me. It fits in the truck and doesn't take up much room at all. It moves from one car to another very easily. I love that it has the LATCH straps to keep it where it belongs when my son is not in the car.
My 4 year old son loves it because he can buckle himself in by himself like a big kid.
The cup holders are wonderful. They are deep and can hold most size drinks. It holds a bottled water nicely and they are deep enough that I don't have to worry about the drink falling over if I happen to brake too hard or quickly. They also hold his little cars or Transformers when he gets out. I usually tell him to put his little trash in one too. Then all I have to do is take the cup out, dump it and give it a quick wash.
I love how this seat adjusts. It adjusts easily to his height and it reclines to the position of the seat. This is a nice feature because different vehicles have different settings for their back seats.
I was a little skeptical when I first ordered this seat because a lot of reviews were saying that they didn't think the seat would be deep enough. I found that it fits my son nicely. He is tall for his age and has long legs, but the seat is just fine for him and I don't see any problems as he keeps growing.
Honest reviews on The First Years Compass Pathway B570 Adjustable Booster Seat
We first bought a much cheaper booster, however, it did not fit in our car nor the grandparents' car (which have bucket seats). We were limited to boosters with a narrow base. Although this cost three times more than our original purchase, we got what we paid for! Furthermore, it's worth our child's safety for years to come. This booster is so solid and high quality. It fits so well in all of our cars, especially with the adjustable belt path. We love the latch system, which First Years made so easy to use. You just push a button to open the hook and latch it into the chair. No more squeezing a hook with fingers into a seat! It's great not to worry about strapping in an empty seat after dropping off my child at school. It's a breeze to transfer the booster from one car to another. The folding feature was an extra perk, since we will be checking it in at the airport. The side head rest did it's job holding up our boy's head when he fell asleep. He really enjoys his big boy seat!Update: After using this for 6 months, we still love this booster. It looks great. I've washed it once, and had no problems (I washed on hand wash cycle and hung dry). It's so easy to move from one car to another, that it never bothers me now when my son wants to ride in his daddy's car or another relative's car. It was so much trouble to transfer the convertible car seat. It has fit in a Mazda 5, 4-door sedans, minivans, and SUV's even next to other car seats in a back row. We've also traveled with it. We checked it in the airport for a vacation, and it fit nicely in a regular car seat travel bag. It's so convenient for travel! I can't wait until my younger son is big enough to be in his own Bumble Bee!
