I chose this one because it is a booster with a harness that uses the latch system/anchor system. My son is still too small for the seat belt only booster seats, and the ones of those I have seen do not use any latch system, but just sits on the seat. I'm not comfortable with that at all... I want some added protection for my child in case of a crash... knowledge that the seat is securely strapped down to the seat and won't go anywhere in case of a seat belt failure.
I DO like the fact that the latch has an easy release button to help loosen the latch belt for removal. The Graco did not and it was hard to position it just right to get it loosened enough to take it out. BUT it is REALLY hard to install alone. You have to put your knee into the seat and pull up on the latch belt to tighten it... impossible from the angle in which you are pulling. I had to get my husband (who does his fair share of weight lifting) to do it while I sat on the seat, and it was hard for even him. The crotch strap is too close, even on the outer most setting but my son doesn't complain too much about it.
When tightening the harness, you have to be careful because it tightens up unevenly. I don't need to tell you that is a dangerous thing.
The seat is harder than the Graco MyRide 65, but it is what I was looking for size wise. I don't think the arm rests are removable, and you need a screw driver to adjust the headrest up and down, but it should be a while before I need to adjust it. Overall it seems sturdy and safe. And if I have anymore opinions on it, I will update for sure.

We are returning this seat. The latch did not tighten the way that we thought that it did. It actually stayed loose. The hole that the latch belt goes through is placed too awkward. The latch will tighten completely when not trying to install it, but when installing it, it only goes so far and leaves about 2 inches of slack and will NOT budge. That's way too much play. It won't tighten with the car seat belt either. I own a 2001 Lincoln LS. No other car seat that I have owned has done this. This thing has a major design flaw for sure. I will just stick with my Graco seat. I would rather go through a little annoyances with putting him in the seat and know that he is safe, than to have to constantly worry if the seat is installed properly.

I bought these car seats for my 3 year old twins. I do not like them. The arm rests were totally in the way. I got my husband cut them off. What really annoys me though is how the straps are CONSTANTLY twisted. No matter now many times I fix them they are twisted back up the next day. I decided I better come write a review when my twins started saying, "Mama, you HATE these car seats??" Guess I only thought I was muttering it under my breath . . .Best Deals for Safety 1st Vantage High Back Booster Car Seat , Orion Black
We bought this seat almost a year ago for our toddler, and have been quite happy with it... until tonight. I did a lot of shopping around for a convertible booster, and one of the features I liked about this seat is that the cover removes for washing (the booklet says so!). After almost a year of sippy cup spills, ours really needed it. And when I began to remove the cover, that's when the love turned into hate. The design of this seat makes the removal of the cover a nightmare of monstrous proportions. Every tiny little piece has to be removed. The straps have to come out, the buckles come out, the little plastic clips in the back and bottom that you have to pry out with a screwdrivereverything. By the time I got the cover off the seat (again, the booklet says this is something I'm supposed to be able to do), I was ready to round up the designers of the seat with cattleprods and herd them into a canyon.
After washing (which was the easy part, the seat cushion/material DOES hold up very well), I went through the same ordeal in reverse getting the cover back on. This time I didn't want to do bodily harm to the designersI was too tired. I think it sucked out my will to live.
As far as the structure and functionality of the seat goes, we've never had an issue. But even with a second baby on the way, I've vowed there is no way on this planet I will ever try to take this cover off and wash it again. I'd rather get a second job and buy a new seat altogether.

Our 3 year old son uses this booster and we are pleased with its functionality; sometimes the buckle is a bit hard to unfasten, but overall it is easily adjustable and user-friendly, especially when compared to similarly-priced competitors.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Safety 1st Vantage High Back Booster Car Seat , Orion Black
I purchased this seat for my son who was four years old at the time. He is now almost five and a half and is still using it in the 5 pt harness setting. He enjoys it, has never said anything about it being uncomfortable and I like that it is slim and fits nicely next to his baby sister's infant seat. It's easy enough that he can buckle himself in which is nice. I also like that it has a top tether, as tethering is very important to me. HOWEVER, I have a few complaints: 1) There is not much room between him and the buckle. Nearly every time I put him in it, I have to make him sit all the way back against the seat as far as he can in order to buckle him in. He was annoyed by this for a little while but now he's used to it and can do it himself. 2) The chest clip can be difficult to undo. I have to use both hands and even then sometimes I'm fighting to get it undone. 3) The straps tend to twist. It's annoying since every time I put him in it, I'm usually untwisting the straps. It works fine for him, especially since soon he'll be using it as a belt-positioning booster. But I am looking for something different for my next son who needs a new seat. I didn't like the Vantage that much.
