this is a great car seat. fits very snug in the car, can take the cover off to wash it, the cup holder is easy for my son to get his cups in and out. over all i jjust feel like my son is very safe in this seat.

I purchased this seat because of the innovative ratcheting latch bars eliminating the need for latch straps. I was surprised at the ease of tight install. I have used Graco Nautilus seats for about 4 years and own 4 of them for my two boys. The Graco seats are great seats however getting them snugly into position usually required me to physically kneel into the seats pushing my knees into the apex while pulling on the latch strap. This makes for a tight install however I need a chiropractor after doing it because I am beat up from the process. Especially after removing 4 seats, adjusting for growth of my kids, cleaning the cars where they were and cleaning the seats. Anyone who tells you its easy to remove and reinstall conventional car seats (for kids over 2) either is not doing it right or they aren't tight or both.I have not removed my new baby trends seat and reinstalled it so I cannot comment on breaking or failing latch bars as others have commented. I can see how they might fail to operate where straps would not. As to whether or not my kid's safety is at risk because of the latch bar system I do not think his safety is compromised but I am not an engineer.
The only complaint I have so far is that the head piece rattles if not pushed firmly against the headrest. As to other items failing? I will follow up if anything fails. Nothing on my Graco Nautiluses failed however they are very difficult to get into position tightly. If I have problems with this Baby Trends seat I will return it unless my problems occur outside of a return period. I really wish one of the manufacturers would design a system with few moving parts that allows easier connection to latch then tightening without a fight.
Lastly this seat also has an advantage in raising the height for the seat belts where they fit over the shoulders. WIth other seats I have to remove the seat from the car, disconnect the belts entirely and re thread at higher locations. This seat only requires me to squeeze a red device and the belt locations above shoulder move higher or lower. This is a big convenience.

this car seat is heavy but has many options and will last for many years thru the stages. I bought this car seat about a year ago and ever since i have had problems with it. The yellow latch bars get stuck and will not hook in my car properly. Also the other day I went to move it from one car to a different and I picked it up and the side broke completely off! The damn thing was made of styrofoam and this is supposed to keep my child safe??!! I do not recommend this seat to any one ever. Or any baby trendz brand anything. I bought this seat for my 1 year old because I read that it's safety rating was great and it was 'heavy duty'. However I've had nothing but problems with this. Within a year the latch system broke (latch won't stay extended), the buckle constantly jams, and the chest strap broke. Not to mention that the weight if this seat makes it horrible if you have to move it to a different car. Our 2nd seat we bought for the other car was a cheaper but much easier to use cosco. Definitely wouldn't purchase!
