I registered for this mirror for our first baby based off reviews of others here who loved it, so I thought I should write a review to explain why it didn't work for us. Maybe we just have oddly made seats, but this mirror didn't work in either of our vehicles (a 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback and a 2011 Chevy Equinox). It is made to strap onto a headrest, but we have our car seat in the center of the back seat, where there is no headrest (I think many other cars are like this, too). Both of them are bench seats. Although it says it can still be used without the headrest on a bench seat by bending the metal stand over the seat and clamping it in place, it is not steady at all. I didn't even attempt to drive with it held on like that, because I knew it would fall off and land in our baby's car seat. The adjustable stand that is supposed to hold the mirror up didn't work at all either; it is not sturdy enough to hold the mirror up, and it kept kept falling over forwards or backwards. I ended up getting the Britax car seat mirror that can be installed on an adjacent headrest because it will pivot to show the car seat in the center of the back seat.

I did a bit of research on a baby mirror considering out existing mirror was not working for us. We were given the Bright Starts See & Play Auto Mirror (elephant) for our baby shower and thought it was adorablebut when it was time to actually use it, we realized we couldn't see our baby! This Brica mirror is large and you can see your baby with no problem, and from any height or angle. The mirror does not appear like a funhouse mirror either, but is made of a safe material. It's easy to install and adjust! We're very happy with this product!

Having a baby mirror saved my daughter's life! I was driving my 16 month old daughter on a busy highway, when I noticed something wasn't right with her in the mirror. I pulled over immediatelyshe was having a febrile seizure and had cut off her airwayshe was completely blue, cold and limp. Being an ER nurse, I quickly did rescue breaths and CPRher breathing returned within a minute or two, although she was unconscious for several hours. Thankfully, after an overnight stay at the hospital, she is completely back to her normal sweet and playful self! She had NEVER had a febrile seizure before, and it was scary how it came from nowhere. If I didn't have this mirror, I would not have been able to see that something wasn't right with her, and we could have had a much different outcome. I will now encourage ALL of my mom friends to get this, and will also buy one for every baby shower from now one!!! Please get thisit could save your child's life!

My wife and I saw these in Babies 'R' Us while setting up our baby registry, but didn't see the need at the time. After a couple of short car rides with the baby in the back, we ordered it. The mirror installed in our car in less than five minutes. After reading other reviews, I did note the concern about using the product in a car without adjustable back seat headrests. Fortunately, both my car and my wife's have the adjustable type. Installation was quick and painless. If you do not have adjustable headrests though, be prepared to Macgyver something to keep it in place or look for another product. You need to be able to slide a flexible arm under the headrest in order for the mirror to stay in place with the straps. As long as you can get that flexible arm under the headrest, you should be okay. The arm is just a thin piece of wire covered in fabric so you don't need much of a gap at all, but it won't work with a solid one-piece seat and headrest. I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars because it was what I was looking for, installed easily on my applications, and serves it purpose all for a fair price.

Pros:

Large, and can see baby from both driver's and front passenger's side in both our Ridgeline and Outback.

Keeps baby entertained...

Not very reflective, so sun doesn't reflect back into baby's face

Adjustable strap allows from some adjustment, but not a lot

Cons:

As one of the other reviews mentioned, you have to have adjustable headrests for this to work. The strap goes over/under the headrest. If you don't have an adjustable headrest, you're not able to use this mirror. While this wasn't an issue for me, I can see where this would be an issue for others.
