I bought two of these for our two cars at the beginning of the summer when I started potty training. My daughter had no accidents in the car until we went on our long road trip. We were driving from North Carolina to New Jersey. My daughter had fallen asleep in the car and we didn't want to stop and wake her up (note: stop every 2 hours for 3 year olds for potty time). She woke up screaming because she wet herself. My husband pulled off at the first exit, but there wasn't anything at this exit in remote, southern Virginia. However, we did find a car wash that you can use yourself and it was empty. So we pulled off there. As I got my daughter changed, my husband tackled the car seat. We feared the worst. However, the car seat was DRY! Except for a little leaking around the buckle, it caught about 98% of the urine. It only took about five papertowels to get the buckle clean.
I must credit my husband with what he did next. He took the piddle pad to the car wash and power-washed it. He also sprayed my daughter's shorts and underwear to get the urine out. She thought it was funny. Then we put it all in plastic shopping bags as we drove further and found a rest stop. Then my husband used the blow dryer in the bathroom to dry it. It was good to go again for the rest of our long journey.
I highly recommend this. If we didn't have it, I bet we'd still be stuck in Southern Virginia because we'd have to clean and dry the car seat itself.

This is the 2nd piddle pad I have purchased. I used the first for my son during those fabulous potty training days and it has now been passed down to his baby sister who is known for her "blowouts" in the car seat. (we need another one for the other car seat). The pad has been washed many times and still looks great. We have used the first one for over a year and feel that there is still a lot of use left in it. It covers the seat very well and is much easier than having to remove the whole car seat. We do have to use a burp cloth at the foot area in conjuction with the piddle pad for the baby but that is mainly because I like the whole seat to be covered from the inevitable weekly "blowout".Best Deals for Summer Infant Deluxe Piddle Pad, Black
I bought this for my 21-month-old who's potty trained at home. I'd hoped it would help us be able to keep her in underpants for car rides. For those little accidents where she starts to go, but realizes in time to stop and wait for the potty, it did ok, but not great. A little bit of urine wicked down to the car seat cover from the buckle, but I was able to spot clean and not have to remove the entire cover. However, if she has a bigger accident where she just goes until she's done (which doesn't often happen, but she's still pretty young, so it does from time to time), the piddle pad might as well not be on the seat. Everything soaks right through, all the way down to the car upholstery underneath the car seat. I can't even imagine trying to use this with an older child who pees more at one time. It just doesn't seem to absorb much at all. We have a Britax Boulevard, and I suppose it could be that it just isn't a great fit for our car seat. I also hate that it needs to line dry, and takes quite a while. Ultimately, I think a plastic grocery bag covered with a cloth diaper does a better job of keeping the seat dry.Honest reviews on Summer Infant Deluxe Piddle Pad, Black
Save your carseat! So easy to just pull out and throw in washer than taking apart the whole carseat!!! Plastic backing protects from spills or diaper leaks. Just received this product after ordering it and another brand of piddle pad... or at least what I thought was a different brand. This item and the Kiddopotamus Deluxe Piddle Pad exactly the same product (even though the photo shows them slightly different). The title of the item is slightly changed so you think it's a different product. Shop around because those listed under "kiddopotamus" instead of "summer infant" are 20% (or more) cheaper... for the exact same product. Works fine, but angry that I paid a few dollars more thinking it was a different brand.
