I had three 5 point harness car seats installed in the backseat of a Hyundai Sonata. I have been waiting for someone to make a booster without armrests as buckling a booster in next to a carseat is very very difficult. Not something a child could do, for sure! The BubbleBum has these great little clips that hold the booster in place and direct the seatbelt so it rests properly on the child. It is easy to inflate (just a few breaths) and straightforward to install. It can be a little tricky to get the seatbelt routed into the clips depending on how thick the webbing on your seatbelts are, but you don't have to redo the clips unless you remove the seat from the car. Once it is installed, my 6 year old can buckle and unbuckle her seatbelt with ease even with two other 5 point harnessed carseats next to her. I needed this seat as a solution to a 3 carseats across in a sedan solution, and the BubbleBum works great for us! It is very compact and comfy.

The BubbleBum booster is super fun and lightweight, perfect for rolling up and taking on a trip. I give it 5 stars for this purpose. I would recommend it for only occasional use because my 5 year old cannot buckle himself in (you must connect the loops through both sides of the lap belt portion of the seatbelt). You must blow it up with your mouth and make sure you are using it properly, so I wouldn't recommend it for carpool use either. As with any booster, be sure to use the shoulder belt adjuster for proper fit to protect your child in the event of a crash.
We are using it to fit 3 across a rental sedan backseat on a vacation. It is rated a "best bet" for fit by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (they don't crash test them, but testing the fit, or how the shoulder belt lies along the collarbone, is a key factor in how well it will perform in a crash.) The seat uses nice quality materials. My main problem with it is the clips on the sides to keep the belt in place across the lap are very difficult to run the seat belt through. I don't see how my 5 yr old would be able to do this on his own. Also, the fact that it is narrower than most seats is great, however, it is much shorter in length as well. Because the seat does not reach the back of his knees, I wonder if this puts strain on his low back. This seat does solve the problem for sitting three across in the back seat and seems nice to travel with. I just would not recommend it for everday use.
