I have previously purchased recaro chairs for my Wife's SUV. These are for my smaller sedan. The Recaros are larger and a bit more traditional design.
My thoughts after 1 week;
1. Top notch quality, very tough plastic, like a football helmet.
2. Very modern, clever design, something like from a jet fighter or space shuttle. My sons really think these are cool (age 5 and 8).
3. The air vents are already worth it, it is april I live in Florida.
4. The ease of adjusting the height and shoulder harness. Big, tough levers and release buttons that solidly clunk into place.
5. Excellent documentation with kid ID stickers for the back of the chair, Phone number, allergies, name and address.
6. The belt channels are clearly marked in high contrast red on black, it is hard to mount them in wrong.
They could charge more for these and still be a value.
To sum up, I would reccomend these to friends or family without reservation. My wife may end up with these in her truck as she has the boys more than I.

I bought these mainly for the deep side wings. Now when my children fall asleep on long road trips, their heads tilt to the side but stay in the seat. I also appreciate the shoulder belt positioner which allows me to adjust the angle that the shoulder belt sits on my children's shoulders. We call these the Ninja seats because of the sleek design and deep side wings. They blend well in the black interior of my car.UPDATE: Because these seats are narrow, you can fit two in the backseat of a Mini Cooper Hardtop. There is not enough room to attach two cup holders though. I also had to remove the headrests from the seatback and flip them around, otherwise these seats would be sitting too upright to be comfortable for the kids.

This is my 3rd Combi car seat because my daughter has outgrown her previous ones. I waited for 3 months to write this review. I like Combi because their products tend to check most of the boxes:1. 4 out of 5 stars on NHTSA ease-of-use rating. I visited the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website and checked on this seat before deciding to purchase it. I strongly encourage you to visit the website and check out the ratings before you purchase any car seats. All car seats rated by NHTSA meet Federal Safety Standards & strict crash performance standards. While all rated seats are safe, they do differ in their ease of use. Here is the link to the website to all parents. http://www.nhtsa.gov/Safety/Ease-of-Use
2. Comfortable. If your young ones tell you that they like their car seat and refuse to sit on others, you know you got the right seat. The mesh build, wide and deep wings, relatively thick cushion, and comfy handrest makes this seat the best seat in the house (or car).
3. The design is pretty stylish. But this is more of a personal opinion.
4. Compact but not sacrificing safety and comfort is one of the most important attributes for this seat. My current setup is, 120lbs, 5'4" wife sits on 2nd row passenger side, 4.5 years old, 40lbs daughter sits on 2nd row center with this seat, 2 months old daughter sits in her Chicco on 2nd row driver side. This gives everyone enough room on an MDX. I would not be able to fit all 3 on 2nd row comfortably if I purchase a car seat that is bigger than this. Keep in mind that big does not mean more safe or more comfy. A big car seat might not have a bigger inseam.
5. Seat belt holds nicely in place. I have seen some car seats that do not have a good seat belt guide and made the seat belt tangled or twisted in a weird way.
6. Crumbs and food cleaned off very easily on this seat. This is a big plus.
However, there are 2 things that I think can be improved:
1. The cup holder. It gets in the way. But you have an option to take it off easily.
2. Just like some reviewers mentioned, the bottom and the back separates too easily when you are trying to move the car seat from one car to another.
Until then, peace to all, happy shopping!
Honest reviews on Combi Kobuk Air-Thru, Licorice
I research all my purchases very much before I make the final decision. I especially liked this seats curved head rest, not only does it offer protection but it also makes it more comfortable for my child if he were to fall asleep. Another feature about this seat that I really like are the seat belt guides. It just makes it much easier to keep the seat belts in place and it also gives added comfort. It's not squeezing my son super tight and I know he's not messing with his seat belt. This seat material is very breathable which make it nice in the summer heat! I love how easy it is to move from car to car! Great booster seat, I would recommend to anyone!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Combi Kobuk Air-Thru, Licorice
We purchased two of these booster seats in order toaccomodate the 3rd booster in our small station wagon.
We did tons of research and came to this one based on
its slim and smart base design without comporomising
on the comfort and head support.
The features we love:
* The base is small and narrow enough to accomodate 3rd booster.
* The base is a home base shape which has a cut on both corners
allowing an easy seat belt access even if there is another booster right agaist it.
* Accomodates slimmer kids well---starting from 33lbs and up vs typicall 40lbs and up
with other boosters.
* the argonomic design that molds into a kid's body rather than swimming in it.
* The Head support catches sleeping kids head perfectly---no more sore neck after a nap in a car.
* Very light weight to carry
* Our kids loved it instantly because it is really comfortable!
* the red seat belt guides keep seat belts in place. Kids can operate their seat belt independently.
(We bought 3" seat belt extender to make it even more easier for our 4 year old to do his seat belt)
* The price is reasobale for the quality.
* The removable cup holder that can be placed on either side.
Features we don't love:
* No latch system (it stays in place really well for not having a latch though)
* The cup holder is bulky and sticking out too much (we usually remove them when there is a 3 child in the middle)
* There is no locking mechanism to keep the base and the body together (when carrying it, the body and the base get
disconnected easily)
We feel we found the booster that we were looking for and very happy
about the quality and the look. Most of all, our kids gave a two thumbs up
on the first day---which means 5 stars for us!
