I love the mirror. It's so nice to be able to check on my son in the car.

The music is creepy and no good. Don't buy this for the music feature and expect anything more than blah.

The light is crap. It's not bright enough to see anything in the dark, much less the baby. The light isn't even bright enough to distract the baby from being upset.

The remote doesn't work half the time.

Do two wrongs make a right? No. This was a gift but for anyone spending their own money on it, decide if just a mirror will do and get that or search for one that comes recommended.

We bought this mirror about a year and half ago because we mostly travel at night and we needed a way to see our LO in the dark car.

The headrest attachment has two cloth parts with wire lining ( I suppose so it holds the shape) with useless velcro on one end, appears to be for connecting it to the other cloth piece. It also has an adjustable clasp. You loosen it, clasp it, get the mirror in position, then tighten the hell out of it so the mirror can't move.

The mirror itself is a little blurry, but they all seem to be, and ours has become scuffed from use (I assume from being taken down and moved around. I used it on a trip this weekend and was able to see him clear enough.

The light is bright enough not to wake a sleeping baby when its shined right in their face. You think the light is too soft at first but when you turn it on in darkness all of a sudden your trying to turn it off for fear that it may be too much. I haven't had LO woken up by it yet, but I just wanted to emphasize that for all the reviewers that say the light isn't bright enough. At least the one I have works well. The light is turned on by the remote and fairly quickly, sometimes too quickly, turns off. It can also be turned off by pressing the light button on the remote again.

The music is decent, its a chime-y, baby sounding, classical selection of maybe 3 or 4 songs. You can move through the possible selections or skip the ones you don't like by pressing the music button. My son loves it, it doesn't bother me at all.

I would recommend turning the back of the mirror off when not in use, and if it's not going to be used for a while, taking the batteries out all together is a good idea. We had the battery acid leak out after a period of prolonged nonuse (in summer heat in south Texas). I feel like we're constantly changing the batteries in the mirror (3AA). The remote takes 2AAA and seems to run out much slower. Whenever we have trouble with it turning on, or the music staying on, we change the batteries, and it goes back to functioning normally.

Finally, a toddler may be able to keep themselves occupied at any time of the day with the remote. My LO (2 yrs) will spend the majority of the time in the car pressing the buttons, turning the light on and changing the music.

I like this mirror because it is simple and the coloring goes really well with the interior of my car which I know sounds silly but still. I also like the lamp. It is really easy to see my baby when the light is on at night an she really likes being able to see herself.

Why I gave it 3 stars? I think the music is too loud and there is no way to adjust it with the remote. Also I wish the light wouldn't turn off so quickly. I wish the light would stay on until I chose to turn it off.

Anyways my daughter does enjoy looking at her reflection and when I am driving I can easily see her.

I needed a mirror in my car to see my baby in the back while I was driving so we purchased the Brica Day & Night mirror. It does it job but I do wish that the light was brighter though. I don't really use the music too much because I always have on my own music in the car but the music that it does play is very creepy. lol.

Item: Brica Day & Night Light Musical Auto Mirror

What it is: This mirror that attaches to the headrest on the back-seat of your vehicle so the driver can view her rear-facing baby in the rearview mirror. The mirror additionally has a remote control that can be used to play 4 different songs and turn on and off a small light. There are two different volume settings. The light and music player on the mirror require three AA batteries and the remote control takes three AAA batteries.

What it does: Every parent everywhere wants to look at his beautiful baby non-stop, whenever possible, even when driving, and is heart-broken when he looks in the rearview-mirror only to see the back of his baby's carseat right? Right? Ok, so that was only half kidding. While it is certainly great to see your growing bundle of joy, the mirror is useful to keep an eye on her during that dangerous put-everything-in-my-mouth phase. The light and music are both very useful at distracting crying baby (though I'm sure that varies by kiddo), thus making long rides just a bit more tolerable.

What We Loved About It: The light has this smoky white cover and soft glow that permits Kiddo to occasionally look directly at it without making dad worry about his eyes. It's also very soothing at night, even without the music playing.

The mirror attaches to the headrest with a sturdy strap, clip, and cloth-wrapped bendable wire. This makes for a variety of angles and the ability to attach the mirror to most any type of head rest.

What We Didn't Quite Love So Much About It: There is one song with extremely high notes in. Will Kiddo seems to not notice it, parents certainly do. Could have done with out that song. But it's easy to skip with the push of a button so its not that big a deal.

What You May Not Have Considered: Siblings love the idea of remote controlling the baby.... Admittedly it is fun to watch the 3 and a half year old push the button and play music to calm the 6 month old down.

In Sum: At around $20 this is a relatively inexpensive way to get a bit more peace during those long car rides with baby, as well as keep an eye on her as she reaches, grabs, smiles, and learns more about her world. I definitely recommend getting a mirror for the rear facing car seat, and if you do a lot of driving (road trips, or just caught in traffic often), it's worth the few extra dollars for the music and light upgrade.
