EDIT 11/5/12: Not long after I gave away my P3, I scheduled a trip to visit family out of town. Unfortunately, the car we would all be using was not large enough to accommodate my BOB stroller, plus I was concerned about it getting damaged by baggage handlers. So I followed my own advice and picked up a used P3!This particular used one had issues staying closed, and one side of the canopy kept coming off the frame. But it still was easy to maneuver, nothing was actually broken on it, and it opened/shut just fine (though again, it had difficulty staying shut).
This time I'm keeping this old P3. I did contact Peg Perego and got the refurb kit (some of the older strollers were recalled), so I'm not worried about it at all.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm posting this review because my Peg Perego Pliko P3 is now 6 years old and is being passed on to be enjoyed by another baby. I hope folks who are considering purchasing a used P3 will find this review helpful. I also hope that parents who are considering purchasing a new one will find this helpful, too, mine has lasted at least 3 kids, so it is a worthy investment.
With the exception of a few squeaks, this stroller has and continues to perform superbly. It is very easy to push, highly maneuverable (I have a BOB also, so that is an important feature to me), not a single piece of plastic or aluminum has broken off, and everything functions. For a well used stroller, that is a testament to how durable these P3s are. The only issues my 6 year-old stroller has is:
-When folded, it may start to open as you lift it up by the carrying handle.
-It doesn't just pop open like a new one. I will flop it open and then have to step on the toddler step in the rear to open it completely.
-One of the Peg Perego name badges fell off.
-I lost the attached cupholder, but it was too small to be overly functional anyway.
I don't think the issues my P3 has should deter anyone from purchasing an older model or a new one. If you are considering a used one, definitely test the folding mechanism and the opening mechanism to see if it is to your liking. If you are thinking of a new one, keep in mind that those may be future issues to deal with. Neither are deal breakers IMO. My BOB starts to open when folded because it is only kept closed by the jogging strap, and it doesn't always pop open easily either. And it is only two years old and more expensive!
If you are in the market for an umbrella stroller or a travel system, the P3 is definitely the way to go and worth every penny. It folds compactly and is lightweight like a typical umbrella stroller, but has the benefits of a full size stroller such as great maneuverability, easy to push, reclining backrest, large canopy, adjustable handles, and very stable (with a car seat or toddler in it for weight).
A couple of accessories I recommend are the J.L. Childress Side Sling Cargo Net and the J.L. Childress Cups N Cargo Stroller Organizer. As other reviews have mentioned, the storage and cup holder design of this stroller isn't very practical, and these two accessories help resolve that.
Best of luck on the stroller search!

I can personally attest to the Pliko P3's good quality, especially compared to the 3 strollers we bought that broke during the year before we invested in this one. I'm shopping for a second one after accidentally leaving our first one behind while traveling cross-country. I had secretly wanted to replace the original after 4 yrs, but only because it was getting a little dingy. The entire thing was in great shape! It was on it's third child, and had been used a min. of 3 times a week straight from the day I put it together to the day we lost it. It went to France and survived airline abuse when it was 3yrs. w/o any issues. It spent most of the time in our trunk or the back of our van where it was jostled about and subjected to the extreme heat of summers in the desert. The only minor issue I should mention is that the wheels squeaked.Pros (I've made use of all of these):
compact fold
adjustable handle height
3 or 5pt. harness
child tray w/ cup holder that can be completely removed for washing
adjustable back & footrest
older child ride-on step
front wheels swivel or lock to accommodate different terrain
has seemed comfy for a variety of sized/aged babies & toddlers
easily steered w/ one hand
roomy despite the compact fold
amazing canopy that fully protects a child from the sun (as long as the back is in the upright position. It's still better than most as you start to recline).
Cons:
no parent tray, and the cup holder seems like an add-on, not an integral part of the design
bottom basket is usable, but not very substantial
Minor reply to other review about the full-recline feature: I removed the plastic pieces to use full-recline as I assembled mine in 2007. Never had an issue and loved letting my babies sleep in comfort.
Honest reviews on Peg Perego Pliko P3 Stroller
I bought this stroller because of a few things; 1it matched my carseat. 2. It folded small. It fits in the bottom section of my van, which is nice. 3. An older child can ride on the back standing up.While it did all of those things, here are some reason why I don't recommend it:
1. an older child can only stand on the back when the seat is completely sitting up. They cannot stand on the back when the stroller is reclined, which it has to be when the carseat is in it.
2. The carseat has to clip in to these clips in order to be completely secure, however when clipping the carseat in, you cannot see the clips. You have to estimate where they are and put the carseat down. On a good day, I get it the first time...on a bad day, after the 20th time I say f*it and don't clip the carseat in. Eventually I folded the clips down and stopped using them. The carseat is pretty secure without clipping inbut it's not 100% safe.
3. When folding the stroller, there is a lever you have to pull and you always have to pull it more than once, twice, maybe three times. And sometimes if you don't do it fast enough, you will only get it to fold halfway, then you have to open it and fold it all over again.
4. When unfolding the stroller, it gets stuck every single time and I half to make sure I unfold it twice and it clips into place, otherwise when going up a curb or something it will fold back up with baby inside.
5. The bottom basket can only be accessed from the sides of the stroller due to the folding mechanism and bars on the back.
Things I like about it:
1. I love the clips on the back. My diaper bag came with clips on both sides and they work perfectly together.
2. Very hard to tip backwards when baby is not inside. I was loading up the stroller today with diaper bag, lunch bag and pool bag and it still did not tip!
3. I do like how a child can ride on the back, even if they can't when it's lying down.
4. I love how the front tray can unclip from both sides or come off completely. It really comes in handy because I never have to worry about taking him out from a certain side.
5. The sturdiest stroller I have found that folds into fours. and I do like the handle on the side after you fold it.
All in all, I gave it three stars because there are some improvements that could be made, and some annoyances, but I have learned to live with them. I would never say to anyone 'I LOVE my stroller', but I would never say that I hate it either. I thought about buying another one, but when I was looking it seemed as though they all had these little annoyances.

I bought this last year when my daughter outgrew her infant car seat. It was a good excuse to upgrade to a more expensive and lighter stroller than the travel system we used until my daughter turned one. Big mistake!Problem 1: When I first attempted to assemble the stroller, I found the child safety harness was missing. After an hour on the phone with Peg Perego and a week in transit, I finally got the harness and was able to use the stroller for the first time. If that was the end of the issues, I would have been happy.
Problem 2: This stroller has never been easy to open and close. It takes a hand on each handle and force applied with my foot on the toddler step to open it. This is not ideal while attending to a toddler at the same time.
Problem 3: Some sort of metal started coming through the wheels along the tread on two wheels.
Problem 4: Recently, the front wheel started squeaking very loudly. This can probably be fixed with some silicone spray. However, this should not be happening after being used about 10 times. It makes me wonder about the quality of the axle and wheel assembly.
Problem 5: The canopy does not securely latch to the stroller. Every time I open the stroller I have to attach one or both sides.
This stroller has many nice features: over-sized canopy, light, easy to recline, nice material, comfortable for baby.
However, it does not make up for: problems 1 through 5 above, difficult to maneuver, rough ride, difficult to access storage.
I would not recommend this stroller, and I replaced ours with a Britax b-agile stroller. The price is significantly less and the quality is far superior.
