We bought this seat for my 3 year old son several months ago, because we really needed a new one. I bought it because it looked comfortable and the cup holders were easy for him to get to on car trips, plus it was a really good price.Fast forward to Monday, and my husband and son were in a head-on collision. The car was totaled, but my son was able to walk away with just a couple of marks from the belt restraints on his neck. I will be buying this seat again!
Best Deals for Evenflo Maestro Car Seat Booster
This was a top pick/ "Best bet" by IIHS (insurance institute for highway safety), was the best priced and also had a 5 point harness system that gave me ease of mind. Most of the top picks for booster seats were for booster seats that no longer have harness systems but given that booster seats are for 40 lb 4 year olds it would be adaquate. but since my children are 4 and 39 lbs and 2 & 1/2 and 36 lbs that wouldn't fit. The colors are awesome and I'd recomend this seat to anyone! (...)Honest reviews on Evenflo Maestro Car Seat Booster
Pros:-Fits my 4 year old son well.
-Love being able to use the 5-point harness up to 50 lbs. Haven't used it as a booster yet.
-Cinch to install using shoulder belt in Acura MDX. Snug installation.
-Light Weight.
-Son loves the cup holders.
-Narrow, so allows for more room in backseat. Fits well next to Graco Baby Seat and First years True Fit car seats which are WIDE.
-Seat sits evenly so sons legs can hang down normally and are not hitting the back of the front seat.
-No problem with slumping when sleeping.
-Great safety ratings
-Great price
Cons:
-Shoulder straps are positioned an inch narrower than previous car seats we have, which dig into my sons neck. We are using strap covers from another seat to take care of that. I think the car seat should come with them.
-Crotch belt is constantly sliding under my son when he gets in & we have to dig it out from under him. (Would be nice to have it velcro in the forward position so we didn't have to worry about it).
-Chest clasp can be hard to undo (seems like cheap plastic). (Pro: My son can't undo it)
-Husband always pinching his fingers when buckling the shoulder straps into the crotch belt.
Overall:
I like it, my son likes it, but I am in the market for another convertible booster seat for my 2 year old daughter and am not sure I will buy one of these for her. If I don't find anything comparable rating/price-wise, I will probably stick with this.

I've been installing and uninstalling car seats for almost 6 years now so I'm no novice. I have a new model SUV and have achieved tight fits with Britax roundabout, Britax marathon and Safety 1st Hybrid Go. Needed an additional toddler seat to provide more comfort for longer rides. Loved the light weight and comfort design features of the Evenflo. Got great ratings from consumer reports.Ran into installation problems with both the LATCH and seat belt installation modes. The tether strap is a single strap (rather than a looped strap that forms a triangle when tethered) so there is a lot of horizontal play in the tether no matter how tight I made it. The LATCH strap hooks were difficult to hook on and also did not achieve that rock solid fit. No matter how much I cinched up on both the tether and the LATCH strap I could still move the seat around more than an inch. Same issue with the seat belt + tether installation. I think the primary flaw is the single tether strap which allows for too much play at the top of the seat.
Disappointed. Returning.
