I had been searching everywhere for a car seat-I absolutely HATED the cheap flimsy plastic ones that seem to be everywhere, and I fell in love with Peg because of the sleek design and great safety ratings. However, I was so anxious about this car seat after reading the negative reviews that we went to the Peg Perego outlet in Ft. Wayne, IN to see the item for ourselves before committing. We loved it! When we got the new items home, we could not figure out how to latch and unlatch the car seat, or how to attach it to the pliko switch stroller we bought. The instructions were poor, had no words (only pictures), and we were so frustrated. I was ready to take everything back and call it quits. However, once we played around with the seat a bit (this took a few hours and a lot of patience) and figured out how to latch/unlatch/adjust it, we realized how simple and easy the whole thing is! And as a plus, it fits so nicely with the pliko switch stroller (which we LOVE). I adore that this car seat fits up to 30lbs, as pretty much every other seat I found only went to 22lbs. The seat is heavier than other car seats, but it isn't cheap graco-quality plastic and actually feels like it has some durability to it. I have pathetic upper body strength and even I can carry it around without much of a problem. In any case, the seat isn't anywhere near heavy enough to warrant the serious doubts I had based on many of the reviews here. The product gets a 5 for quality and style, and a 3 for ease of instruction, which average to a 4. Also, if you live close to the outlet it is definitely worth a visit--their prices are much lower and they offer the 2011 models plus have a good return policy.

I love this car seat! I have the 2010 model in red step, and it is so easy to clean. My son has used it since birth, and is now 1year old, 30 inches long and 20.5 lbs. His head still doesn't hit the top, and he is very comfortable in it. He has plenty of room; not squished at all. It is heavy, so after the first few months I just took him out of the car and left the car seat in. I also have the Skate in black step and love that I was able to leave my son in the car seat if he was asleep and transfer the car seat to the stroller base. I plan on having another child when my son is 2, so I'll be able to put the car seat on the stroller base for the infant, and be can be in the jumper seat. The car seat cleans up really nicely, even though it's mostly beige, and has had nasty messes. It'll still look like new for the next child. The car seat is also easy to unclip from the base, and the belt that attaches the base to the bar in the car is very easy to clip in. Tons easier than the ones with hooks. I (the wife) am little, so the car seat being so big and heavy is the only fault I've found. My husband has no problem at all. I decided on purchasing a Peg Perego based on some of my mother-friends recommendations ... I should have looked at some other car seats in-store before purchasing straight from the internet. Like many other reviewers have mentioned this car seat is HEAVY! I'm considerably fit and didn't think this would be too much of an issue for me, but having to walk with this car seat to and from the car is extremely awkward. The canopy only has 2 positions, pulled forward or pulled back. The handle can only be adjusted by pressing the buttons on either side not a deal breaker but definitely not very convenient when you're trying to juggle adjusting the car seat plus a screaming baby at the same time. The Latch system makes it extremely easy to install the base and removing/placing the car seat in the car is so easy! The fabric isn't very breathable, so I'm going to purchase a Meeno Baby liner I'll update my review once I receive it.In summary, this car seat is HEAVY but extremely safe and sturdy, easy to install, a breeze to remove and attach to base. I highly recommend you go to the store first to see if this is the right one for you and your family.
