I paid for this seat because my first infant seat (for my now 6.5yo) was made by Maxi-Cosi, and from what I could tell, none of the other brands compare, in terms of making a safe seat that is lightweight to carry with beautiful fabrics that are comfortable for your baby!

This seat does come with a base, which you have to search to product description carefully to discover! The fabric is beautiful, soft, and available in a wide array of colors. The seat is highly rated for safety, and it attaches to the base securely and easily, with your infant reclined at a nice angle (no head tipping forward uncomfortably). I quite like the shape of the carrying handle, the window shade works well, and the straps adjust without any trouble for me.

This seat works for babies up to 29" tall, but the weight limit is only 22lbs. Personally I don't like to carry a child heavier than that in an infant car seat, but if you tend to have heavier babies this might be a problem. I think it is perfect for tall, thin babies.

This is not a compact infant seat and the base is also quite long. Not a problem in my minivan (and is a key ingredient in the comfy recline the seat offers for the baby), but may be a problem if you have a more compact car.

I bought this seat for my new baby after i gave away my old maxi-cosi cabrio thinking that i'll never use it again.

we were happy with our first maxi-cosi so we decided to get the same product this time.

While we where waiting for our seat to be delivered from amazon, my wife saw the base for the car on sale at Toys r' Us and bought it. We were happy with the purchase.

When we received the seat we were really happy with the color, the head rest and all the rest, but even more when we saw that this seat comes with the base! so we went back and returned the base we have bought and got a back a few dollares!.

Best Deals for Maxi Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat

Let me preface this by saying I'm an American living in Japan with a pretty small (by American standards) car. It's a Mazda Familia which I'm pretty sure is marketed as a Protege in the states. It's a small 4 door with a tight back seat even without the carseat. We purchased this seat because the matching stroller was gifted to us.

I ordered this and it was delivered to my APO box with no problem in about a week. The packaging was a little weird (the carseat was attached to the base and then placed in a large clear bag like a garbage bag and then placed in the box) but there was no damage to the seat or the base. Included was the seat, base, two shoulder pads for the straps, the round infant head insert and the crotch guard.

AppearanceI get compliments on the appearance of this seat almost daily. The color is vibrant, the design modern and the fabric is soft. I machine wash the cover, shoulder pads, infant head insert and crotch guard on gentle with a bit of woolite and then machine dry on low. I've had it for four months and wash it about once a month and have had no fading or pilling. You do have to unthread the seat to get the cover off but the threading is really easy IMO.

BaseThe base spills over my backseat just a bit but is still level. For the price, this seat should have included an actual level like on the Graco seats but only includes an embossed line on the plastic. It's longer than it is wide so an adult can still sit in my tiny backseat with the carseat installed (we have it in the center). The base can be used with lower LATCH hooks or threaded with a locked seatbelt (a locking clip is included, it's attached to the underside of the seat itself for safe keeping). My Mazda has lower LATCH so I use that with my car. I installed this base all by myself and I will say it is quite difficult to get the LATCH belt tight enough around the base. There is about an inch of "play" side to side but sometime I feel like it loosens over time so I tighten it again once every 3 weeks or so (which is probably a safe carseat practice anyway). We were never able to install the base or the seat with the belts in my husband's Honda Accord (equivalent) but I think that's more because of the belts in his car than the seat. Center installed in my car we had to move both seats forward a bit, but not so much as to be very uncomfortable (and we're tall, 5'8 and 5'11).

AttachingThe biggest negative to this seat is the 2 handed release. To detach the seat from the base you have to reach at the top of the base (the section that spills over the edge in my case) and pull a long grey release button before lifting the seat out. As I mentioned, my seat is installed in the center so this is quite an inconvenience. I've gotten used to it but I would still rather there be a button or something. You also have to make sure that same release button is pulled all the way out to reattach the seat to the base (there's a little window with red to say it's not pulled out or green letters saying the seat can now be attached). Normally the action of pulling and holding the release to pull the seat out of the car leaves it pulled all the way back so you don't have to worry about it when putting the seat back in but sometimes (probably every 4th time) it isn't and I have to put the seat down and pull it out before attaching it. When the release is pulled it's very easy to just plop the seat in there. There's an audible click when the hooks attach (always double check though).

Belts, Clips & SlotsI've found this seat to be incredibly easy to thread which is plus because my son is really tall so I've already had to adjust the shoulder height twice in four months. I've had zero issues with the chest clip or lower clip, they're pretty standard. The lower clip has two slots and the shoulders have four. My son was 21" at birth and at four months is about 25.5". I have the shoulder straps on the second to highest slot but will probably have to move it again in the next couple of weeks. Remember, the straps should thread below the shoulder and come up and over. His feet are still within the seat but I doubt we'll make it past 6 months before we have to upgrade to a convertible.

Weight & Weight AllowanceAlone this carseat is probably the lightest I've ever picked up, weighing in at about 8lbs. Babies don't stay small forever and adding 15lbs of fluffy cuteness will make any seat heavy so having one that was light to begin with is a plus. This seat is for babies 22lbs or smaller so this won't have a very long life. At four months my son is already over 15lbs so I don't see this seat making it past the 6 month mark with us which kind of sucks for the price.

HandleThe handle is thinner than some other seats' and does not have any sort of padding whatsoever. I'm actually developing callouses from lugging my baby around in this thing but I'm sure that would happen with any unpadded bar. I'd buy a padalilly or something similar if you're going to get this seat to save your hands and arms. The good thing about the handle is that it can be in either position when attached to the base (and while the car is in motion). The bad thing is you need both hands to move it. There are two buttons, one on the base of each side of the handle, that have to be pushed at the same time to move it. A one hand operation would be ideal but this wasn't a deal breaker for me.

Use with Accessories

1Foray strollerWe use the seat with an older model Foray that was gifted to us by relatives. I love this seat with the stroller because it attaches directly to the base (the regular stroller seat comes off and is for use for 6m+ or when baby can sit up unassisted). It's much less bulky than other travel systems which is great because Japan is full of tight spots. I won't get into a review of the stroller since there's been a new one released anyway but I will say the only negative is there is (again) a two hand release to detach the seat from the stroller. There are two small grey buttons along the frame that must be simultaneously pushed and the seat released straight up.

2CoversWhen I purchased this seat I also purchased the rain cover and bug net. I've only used the rain cover like twice and it was pretty cumbersome to get on and off. Summer is only just arriving so I haven't used the bug net yet. Note that the bug net provides no UV protection. My son was born in Dec so we purchased an aftermarket muff that attached around the entire seat. Maxi Cosi makes one that threads through the belts (as not to interfere with them) but it was too expensive IMO so I picked up the one from the BX that fit just fine.

3 ToysThe bar is thinner than some but I've been able to attach toys to it with no issue.

All in all I would say this is an attractive, good quality seat. I can't say I would buy it again once we get back stateside and buy normal sized cars again but if you have a midsize or smaller car I would recommend it. I honestly don't think any other brand would fit without having the front passenger or driver with their knees in their chests.

UPDATE: 7/13/13

So my son is a couple days shy of 7 months and we HAVE to replace this seat because he's only half an inch shy of the 29" height max for this seat. Again, my son is 97th percentile in height so if you have a normal sized baby you should be fine but if you have a string bean like me you won't get much life out of this seat.

I've also had to start using this seat without the base. I don't know if it's the way the latch buckle (where the grey button is you press to lengthen the strap) sits right up under the edge of the seat, if I have a faulty latch belt or if my husband and I are just weaklings but we CAN NOT get the base to stay tight enough. One day I push it back and forth and there was like 3 inches of play on each side. Both my husband and I tightened the strap, drove home, took the baby out and move it again and it had loosened during the drive. I had to give up the ghost and deem it unsafe with the base. We now use it with the automatic locking belts behind the passenger seat. I don't like having him on the outside but I get a much tighter, safer installation with the belt. It's also really easy to put on so it's not a big hassle. If anything, it's easier than using the base.

The fabric is still as bright and beautiful as the day I got it though the shoulder pads have very minimal pilling. I would still recommend to someone in the market for a seat for smaller cars or a secondary seat for Dad or Grandma's car.

Honest reviews on Maxi Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat

I was choosing between this seat and the Chicco Keyfit 22, as they were the top seats rated by Consumer Reports. What ultimately led me to choose the Maxi Cosi seat was the fact that it was a couple of pounds lighter than the Chicco seat and that's a big deal to me as I don't want to be lugging around a heavy seat. (I'm not concerned with the 22 lbs weight limit as I don't plan on carrying my baby in this seat once he gets that heavy!) And I have to admit that it helped that this seat is so cute!

My baby is only a week old so far so we haven't used it more than a few times yet, but I like the way that he fits snugly in the seat even though he's still so tiny and the way the handle is designed makes the seat easy to handle and carry around. Overall, very happy with this purchase so far.

**Update

My son is now two months old and I am still quite happy with this seat. We did have some problems getting the seat to click into the base for a while, but I've found that as long as I make sure that neither the LATCH strap (on the base) nor the strap that you pull to tighten the shoulder straps (on the seat) are in the way when you're putting the seat in, it goes in pretty easily. It still doesn't snap in as easily as my old Graco Snugride did, but I think that all the pros of this seat outweigh this one minor con. I've also used it without the base and found it really easy to install securely using just the seatbelt.

I have the Quinny stroller and the Maxi-Cosi car seat works amazing with it! I just pop it on, and pop it off with the press of a button. And less important, but nice, is it matches the stroller design really nicely. The graphics are modern and simple. So many car seats were just ugly looking!!! I had a Chicco before this which my son screamed his head off in constantly and for some reason he doesn't do that anywhere near as much in the Maxi-Cosi. Way less crying!!! His posture is more upright in this one than in the Chicco, like in more of a sitting position and I think that suits him better. Probably better for him too. It's also a lot lighter than the Chicco. And, when your kid is gaining a few pounds every month, the lighter, the better. It was also really easy to install. My husband did it in minutes flat.

We were ready to get a second convertible booster for our other car as our second child is now out of the carrier and using our previously extra seat. We bought a cool looking and well reviewed car seat from another company and as soon as I installed it, I knew it wasn't going to work out as my almost 4 year olds head was totally being pushed forward by the head piece. This car seat is wonderful it doesn't have the obnoxious side wings that some of them do and it doesn't push the kids head forward (as though there is a pillow behind their head) like a lot of them do. It's been durable, takes washing well (though a pain in the butt to remove the cover like all of them). My only complaint is that the cup holder does not stay up in ours small drawback. My son has complained about his new (other company one) for the past month since I installed it. I'll be going back to our loyal Eddie Bauer one and buying a second one of these.

We were in the market for a new car seat/booster seat for M. He is special needs and weighs like 35 pounds at 5 years old. He's our little guy and we need something he can use for a long time, weight and length wise really. This booster seat is great and very easy to apply to the car and strap him in. It's a 5 point harness and very stylish in my new car. I love the bar in the back that makes adjusting the belts easy as your child grows. It's also very easy to take apart whenever you need to wash it. I know my kids are very messy car eaters, so I got one those Eddie Bauer under the seat, seat protector. That thing has been a life saver for my seats since I bought it for this car seat. It also has pockets in the front which are kinda pointless for the kids since they can't reach it. The booster seat is soft and comfortable, my kid seems to like it. This has a cup holder attached to the side of it, kinda difficult for the kids to make happen but it does lock in which is handy, though your sippy cup will go flying out of it. I just love how they can totally just grow into it, by using the regular version and when they reach over 40 pounds you can use the belt which is very handy, but this booster seat is much heavier than the graco booster seat.

I made a decision to purchase the Contours stroller after reading many reviews. Affordability and the level of comfortability for my child were a top priority. I am very pleased with my purchase and feel that I got just about everything I wanted and needed in a stroller.

My son will be 2½ in a few months, is over 3 ½ feet tall, and weighs about 32 lbs. I finally came to the realization that he was going to look like a 4 year old in any stroller that he sat in, so I had to get what worked best. I was looking for a stroller that was easy to maneuver, had straps that easily adjusted as he grew, and was not too tight in the crotch area for him (as most were).

I let him sit in the Chicco Liteway and the Combi Cosmo in the store. These were our concerns:

Chicco--good cushioning, high back so he could rest his head comfortably, turned on a dime, feet didn't drag-and looked great---------------but the shoulder straps and crotch area harness were too tight---no snack tray---storage basket was small and awkward---hubby loved the height, but not at the expense of son's comfortability.

Combi--loved the vertical easy fold--came with an over the shoulder strap for carrying---shoulder and crotch area seemed comfortable------it was a little difficult to turn, plus he kept putting his feet on the wheels--the footrest was pretty short---he started to bite the mesh snack tray so I immediately knew what it would like after a month or two of use--hubby felt that it was a little too low to the ground for him.

Contours Lite (Tangerine)

PROS:

Turns on a dime: You can literally turn it with your finger tips. Color is not as bright as some suggested. Decent high end look without the high end price.

Straps can be loosened or tightened fairly easily: The shoulder straps do not dig into my son's shoulders and there is plenty of room for the crotch area. There is still plenty of room to adjust these for him. The way they are attached in the back, did seem a little weird, but it's just different not unsafe.

Child snack tray holds sippy cup and snacks: love that it can hang to the left or right if I need it to for a moment or I can remove it and toss it in the storage basket---

Note: Snack Tray does sit high up (no biggie for my child)--If I had a younger toddler, I'd probably remove it and just use the Safefit Snack Pod ($7 or $8 at Babies R Us, Target, or Walmart--it has snack and cup holder and can be attached to the side) ---I own one and have put it on this stroller just to test it out.

Easy to clean fabric: Yes I've had a spill-Soap and water works fine.

Reclines: Although it does not recline to a flat position, it does reclines back far enough for a long nap. It sits high enough so his feet don't touch the floor or drag.

Long footrest: When he's asleep, I do put his feet on the footrest so they don't dangle. Stroller sits up high, so regardless his feet definitlely wouldn't drag.

Weight Limit: I believe the weight limit may be 35 lbs. I am taking my chances on this since other reviews have stated that they have put older children in this stroller with no problem (i.e. an average sized six year old). I could be wrong, but I really don't see it being an issue within the next year and half.

Large Storage Basket: I can put son's coat, my jacket, and a backpack or large diaper bag in the basket with a little room to spare.

Very Lightweight and easy to fold: Only 13 lbs--I was surprisingly shocked by how lightweight it was. It does require two hands to fold, but it is super easy and quick, just takes a second.

Easy to assemble: I never ever put anything together--and it only took me about 25 minutes. I hope I never have to replace anything, but if I recall from the manual, the most expensive replacement part is $14.

Doesn't take up a lot of space: I have a midsized car. The stroller folds in half and takes up a little less than half of my trunk space, leaving plenty of room for other things. It's a non issue in my husband's full size car. My travel system stroller left no room in my trunk.

CONS:

Does not sit fully upright:I wish it did sit upright at a 90 degree angle because the seat is pretty deep---Sometimes he likes to relax and lay back, sometimes he likes to pull himself up -but this doesn't seem to be an issue for my child, since he is older.

Not sure if I'd recommend this stroller for a small infant: I just like a fully reclining feature for infants. The Chicco Liteway would probably be better for a smaller infant. Just purchase the Safefit Snack Pod for the Chicco ($7 or $8 at Babies R US, Target or Walmart--it has snack and cup holder and can be attached to the side) I think the Contours stroller is recommended for kids 6 months or older. I would venture to say 1 year.

Not sure what the seat is made of: One day (not any time soon) I am going to check to see what the seat is made of--It doesn't have any thick cushioning. He's been in it for two hours straight and it didn't seem to bother him. I am just more curious than anything. Some people believe that it is cardboard. If I get around to checking it out and it looks crazy, I may actually just add some batting to it (yeah right)!

Parent cupholder is just okay: I ended up purchasing the Sunshine Kids Stroller accessory buggy buddy for $7 at Babies R US and this was perfect. It has a zippered compartment for my keys and phone, plus I can put extra things in it like a drink for dad and snacks for me!

No height adjustable bar: My husband is 6"1' and I am 5"1'. Of course it is not an issue for me. He said that although he would have liked a height adjustable bar, it was okay because it turns so effortlessly. He has used it on several occasions with no complaints.

Canopy is a little flimsy when pulling it back: Just use both hands to pull it back and it will be a non issue (GRAB SIDES, PULL OUT, and THEN BACK, because it does have two little pieces on the sides to keep it in place).

No lever to recline or reposition the seat: I am used to being able to simply push a lever to recline or put the seat back into an upright position. However this seat has a "buckle" in the back so I have to tighten and untighten the straps manually. What used to take a second now takes about 30 seconds. It's not a deal breaker, it's just somewhat irritating.

I know this was a long review, but I wanted to address all the major concerns to help you make the best stroller purchasing decision for your household. It is definitely one to consider. I gave it a four because it lacked a height adjustable bar, I had to purchase the stroller accessory, and because there was no lever to recline or reposition the seat. Hey, you have to pick your battles!!! Again, I am pleased with my purchase.

It has all that I was looking for in a basic lightweight stroller.

Pros:

Lightweight

Has a snack tray (not all lightweight strollers have a tray)

Reclines pretty far back

Big storage basket underneath

Maneuvers well

5 point harness

It was a bargain at 80 bucks!

Cons:

The canopy could be a little bigger, but I just like really big canopies

The snack tray is a high, so it can get in the line of vision of a small child. But, it can be disconnected if needed.

I have been going back and forth over which lightweight stroller to order. I am buying for my 3 child and had several stroller over the years from every brand. This however was a first purchase from Kolcraft. I read the reviews over and over and finally ordered it.

Shipped fast and the stroller is nice looking from afar. I think it looks to be made a bit cheap though(up close). I guess for $ you get what you pay for. I have a few issues with this stroller, the first being is that it is too short. I am 5'7 and I felt like I am hunched over to push it. My son who is 19 months can reach the handlebar when standing behind it. I wanted to mention this because I didn't see any other reviews that talked about height. And second is the no parent tray...it not something I am used to. The cup holder it does come with is too small to hold just about anything.

And this may be just a fault with mine, but the canopy kinda sticks and doesn't open without being tugged on hard. It looks like it gets stuck on a piece of plastic on both side of the stroller.

This stroller is going back tomorrow. :(

I am giving it 3 stars because overall (and if I was able to give it a more through chance) it would probably be a nice stroller.....for somebody shorter :)

Honest reviews on Contours Lite Stroller, Tangerine

This stroller is by far the best light stroller we have bought for our newborn. It is affortable, durable, and light enough for my petite wife to fold and unfold on her own. It is durable enough for my 45 pound daughter to sit in when she is tired. And it is the most affortable stroller out there. I recommend it to everyone.

As a dad, I'm always in search of the best features/functions/value and this stroller really delivers. A recent trip on an airplane prompted us to begin searching for a compact stroller that would make for an easy trip. I did a ton of comparisons, ranging from basic umbrella strollers to the high-end Maclarens and larger strollers. Although I wanted a stroller that would let us get in and out of the airport fast, I also wanted a comfortable stroller that we could use for extended periods of time. In the end, I chose this stroller because it:

was light-weight

collapsed easily

had a front tray

adult cup holder

full sunshade

large basket

reclined for napping

There have been some comments regarding the height of the stroller, but I am 5'11", and have had no problems pushing this stroller on long walks. The handle seems to be at a regular height, and the continuous handle makes for easy 1 hand pushing.

I really like having the tray on the front for the baby, and surprised that more light-weight strollers are missing this feature. If you want to feed the kid, a tray is pretty helpful. Although it is set high compared to the baby's height, our baby can easily pull herself up to reach a couple puff's we leave on the tray for her snack. The tray is also detachable.

The recline is satisfactory, and although it does not recline fully, it is good enough for napping (a key feature when you're at functions late night). The basket is really nice and big, and we can easily fit her diaper bad and wife's purse. The sun shade covers adequately.

This stroller folds forward (like a beach chair), which I find preferable to the long fold of the typical umbrella stroller. The forward fold fits better in our car and is easy to unfold using 1 hand.

Lastly, the price is just right. This stroller literally offers every feature you might want, and for much less than other high-end strollers. The construction is robust enough, that it should last for a while, and it looks great while doing so.
